The first time I traveled to document the U.S.-Mexico border, I packed up a small tent with minimal clothing, and camped outside of a small sports complex that had been converted into a shelter for migrants who were arriving from Latin America (2018). Every year, thousands of migrants flee violence and economic disparity to reach the border. some never make it. The man-made creation of the border wall has generated one of the worst humanitarian crises in our modern society, fueled by political props.
